Malani’s career spans over 35 years with a breadth of experience in strategic planning, business development, sales and marketing, client relations, governance, public relations, training and coaching.

She actually started her working life as an enforcement officer with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Industry in 1982.  She was responsible for the the enforcement and prosecution of trade laws implemented by the Ministry and worked on the implementation of consumer awareness programs in Penang and Kedah. She then served with the Kedah State Disaster Relief committee. 

She left the civil service after obtaining her degree and joined a manufacturing company as a HR generalist before going on to do an MBA.  After completing her MBA, Malani joined a training consultancy.  

In 2004, she joined CIMB-Principal Sdn Bhd as Senior Direct Account Manager focusing on increasing new institutional client base.  She was promoted to co-Head the regional institutional business.  She joined Bursa Malaysia in 2013 as Senior Vice President, Investor Development, responsible for the Exchange’s institutional business in Asia.   She is licensed under the Financial Advisors Services License (Singapore) and CMSRL (Capital Markets Services License), Malaysia and an accredited trainer for Securities Commission, Malaysia.

CDC Malaysia is privileged to have Malani be part of the career advisory team.   

Friendly and affable with a flare for networking, Malani easily relates to all kinds of personalities; from the simple vegetable seller in the ‘kampungs’ to Managing Directors of global organisations in the region.  Her people skills are very much put to good use at CDC. Her own transitions and challenges in both her personal and professional life, has greatly helped her develop compassion and empathy for those who are now in that cross-roads.
